Do you want to participate in the $20M GTD Powerfest on PartyPoker, but don't know where to invest or even where to start? This article will help you with your planning!
Powerfest Satellites
Do you know what a satellite is? A satellite is a tournament that has a single, simple objective – to award one (or more) spots to a specific tournament.
Example: we will use the Powerfest Event #002 – $30K GTD Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em with a buy-in of $109.
We know that paying $109 in a tournament ends up being a bit complicated for most players. But there's no denying that this is a great event, with a great structure (15/20 minute blinds and 50,000 starting stack) and, therefore, it's a very +EV to participate in. So, what should you do?
Simple – click on the blue “Click to View Satellites” in the lobby of this tournament and a list of satellites will appear. In this example we can see $22 tournaments that give a spot to this $109 event, including satellites with 20 guaranteed spots! Playing this tournament paying only $22 makes things much easier, huh?
PS: The same goes for $215 or even more expensive events.
Powerfest Tips
This Powerfest is going to be epic – $20 million guaranteed across 301 events is no small feat. So, you better get ready, right?
Since most tournaments are very deep with great structures, it is worth (and perfectly possible) to use a solid game and not rush things. However, since it is complicated to explain everything here, we recommend that you read our various articles on the most varied types of tournaments in our Strategy Section – we guarantee that this will be a great help in your grind!
