How to Deposit at Online Poker (1)

In this article we describe the deposit methods for online poker, mainly those available to Brazilians and Portuguese.

Online poker can be played for free, for fun and even for training, but all poker programs offer real money play. They offer options for all levels of players, from beginners to professionals. All online poker rooms offer bonus cash promotions after deposits, which you can check out on the online poker programs page.

To make a deposit, the player generally has several options. However, not all methods are possible, due to restrictions from some credit card companies regarding online games, be it poker, casinos or other games.

Deposit methods for online poker

See below the main options available to players from Brazil and Portugal. For each option, we provide a list of programs that accept the payment/withdrawal method.

International credit cards

International credit cards are a great option, as they allow for quick deposits and withdrawals. However, many card companies do not allow deposits on gambling websites. This ban often cannot be changed, even by calling the card's customer service department. It is worth trying to deposit with your card, but if it does not work, check the options below.

Credit cards accepted: All online poker rooms.

Bank Slip (ActeCash)

This is a very useful option for Brazilian players, as it allows you to deposit using any ATM or bank. You usually receive the money in your poker account within 24 hours. Disadvantage: you cannot withdraw using this method. To make a withdrawal, you would need to use another option.

Bank slips accepted: Pacific Poker, Betboo, Paradise Poker.

Bank Transfer (Brazil)

This new feature in online poker promises to be very useful for Brazilian players. With this method, you can make a simple bank transfer in Brazil and have the money available in your online poker account within five days. As of this writing, the minimum deposit limit is $1,400, which is its biggest disadvantage. To withdraw the money, the player would need to use another method.

Bank transfer accepted for deposit: Pacific Poker.

Bank transfer accepted for withdrawal: Paradise Poker.

PaySafeCard

New option for users in Portugal. It is actually a prepaid card, similar to those used with mobile phones. You buy the card in stores in Europe, and you can transfer your credits to Poker rooms that accept this option.

PaySafeCard accepted: Party Poker, Poker Stars.

Checks

Checks are generally a good option for withdrawals, if the other options are not available. They are mainly recommended for larger amounts, as fees are charged when withdrawing the money. Checks are made out to your name and sent by mail – they usually take up to 30 days to arrive in some regions of Brazil. All poker rooms accept this method for withdrawals.

  1. Hello, I'm dying to play poker on the internet. I've had a virtual money account at Party Poker for about 2 to 3 years. Which site do you think would be best to open? In this case, as I was reading, those with a deposit via bank slip would be easier, but to withdraw, if there is one, they all work with checks. This is not detailed in the guidelines and what are the fees charged, and is the check from a financial institution here in Brazil?

and poker is legal in Brazil, if you play how do you legalize it with the tax authorities?

  2. For ease of deposit, I prefer boleto bancário (see above). For ease of deposits and withdrawals, I think Neteller is the best, but registration is a bit complicated.

As for your other question, I suggest checking out our forum, where we have discussions on this topic.
