Hey guys, today I decided to talk about the other side of the game. In addition to studying the game itself, you need to keep your body and mind working together to achieve your best performance.
Pre-Grind:
- Be fed
- Rested and calm
- A little study before starting can be very good (without exaggeration so as not to start the grind journey worn out)
- Free time: Never start the grind with any commitments that could get in the way of your tournaments. Sometimes you will end up giving up and throwing away the tournament to be able to go to the commitment. And this can make a big difference when it comes to seeing the results.
- Exercise: I can guarantee that doing physical exercises in the morning before starting the grind, in addition to making you healthier, will make you more willing and patient. Working out, running, fighting, yoga, etc.
Grind:
- Maximum concentration: Try to play in places without a lot of noise, conversation, or television. During the grind, don't look at Facebook, Skype, or Twitch. Try to focus as much as possible on the tables and actions. I myself have lost several spots because I was talking to someone on Skype while grinding.
- Having lunch or dinner during the grind: Have a plan in place for what you're going to eat, so that you can waste less time during the 5-minute break. I usually have lunch right at the beginning of the grind while I'm at a few tables, and during the grind I'll eat some fruit and cookies and only have dinner after I'm done grinding.
Post-Grind:
- Analyze your performance: regardless of whether you had a negative or positive result during the grind, try to analyze how you performed during the session. What did you do wrong? What mistakes could have been avoided? Where else did you do well? This will help you remember how to act next time.
- Disconnect from poker: After doing the analysis, try to disconnect your mind from poker. Do some leisure activities, go out, watch movies, etc.
- Sleep well to be able to cope with tomorrow's routine.
Agenda
Shall we record your activities?
Try to follow your weekly plan as much as possible, make a schedule dividing all your daily activities:
- Study: a minimum of 10 hours per week is recommended
- Rest
- Food
- Exercises
- Leisure
It may seem like a narrow-minded thing to follow a schedule, but once you start doing it, you will feel the difference.
You should ask yourself: What kind of professional do I want to be?
