Carlo Ancelotti is the new coach of the Brazilian National Team. The official announcement was made by the CBF on Monday (12), ending months of speculation and negotiations. The 65-year-old Italian will leave Real Madrid at the end of the European season and take over the National Team on May 26, 2025, with a contract valid until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
🇧🇷 A historic milestone for the National Team
Ancelotti will be the first foreigner to lead Brazil in almost 60 years, bringing with him an impressive resume: five Champions League titles (two with Milan and three with Real Madrid) and trophies in the five major European leagues. His debut will be on June 5 against Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier, followed by a match against Paraguay on June 10 at the Neo Química Arena in São Paulo.
🗣️ Ancelotti's statements
In a press conference, Ancelotti expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge: “From the 26th, I will be the coach of Brazil. It will be a new challenge, wonderful. But until then, including today, I am Real Madrid. I want to end this current chapter, this fantastic adventure, in the best possible way.”
⚽ What to expect from the new cycle
Ancelotti's arrival represents an attempt by the CBF to restore the national team's prominence after underwhelming results in recent years. With his vast experience and track record of success, he is expected to implement a solid playing philosophy and win important titles, such as the 2024 Copa América and the 2026 World Cup. The presence of players who previously worked with Ancelotti at Real Madrid, such as Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo and Éder Militão, could facilitate the transition and implementation of his style of play.
