Twitch is updating its game protection to ban some game sites. The replacement was announced as soon as it was announced amid a ongoing controversy surrounding British Twitch streamer Sliker, also known as Abraham Mohammed.
As of October 18, Twitch will now not allow users to play on sites that feature slots, roulette or dice games unless the gambling venue obtains a license in the US or another jurisdiction that provides “broad personal protection.” The announcement has so far gone to name the sites that users will now no longer be able to play on.
Unfortunately, this original protection as currently described leaves a variety of room for gaming sites.
Based largely on Twitch’s announcement, not all streaming can be banned entirely from the video streaming platform anymore. Twitch has created some exemptions, stating that it “will continue to allow sites that target sports betting, sports betting, and poker.” It is most of these sites which were Sliker's downfall.
Additionally, or no longer, it’s currently unclear exactly what Twitch considers “protection,” or which jurisdictions the video streaming platform believes offer it. It’s unclear where card games equivalent to blackjack will fall, with Twitch having explicitly exempted poker from the original tips.
Twitch declined to comment further at this time, stating that it would likely shed more details about its original game protection quickly.

On the weekend, Sliker admitted on Twitch that he has deceived followers and guests of at least $ 200,000 with the opinion of increasing addiction to the game, although other streamers disclose that the amount is as high as $ 300,000 . Based largely on Sliker's disclosure, high-profile Twitch creators equivalent to Pokimane (Imane Anys) and Devin Nash known as Twitch to resolve poke against the game, and even started organizing a strike. Streamers xQc (Félix Lengyel) and Ludwig Ahgren also committed to serve to compensate the victims.
How so, some creators received the original Twitch protection announcement as a settlement. On the other hand, while Nash considers this “a step in the right direction,” he noted that it is no longer enough.
“There are hopefully some positives that can come out of this,” Nash said in a Twitter thread. “However, what we were fighting for became as soon as the ban on the ideal Fortune-based, mostly playing, because it is objectively imperfect for the accumulation arena and its customers. Here it is no longer that. Success-based, totally, mostly playing, will be alive and well in the accumulation arena on October 18th… We must always always defer to Twitch responsible as a platform to invent the right thing, since it seems easier to recognize the unparalleled stress.”
