Doubt hands Omaha

brunãoAts: I play Texas Hold'em and I was at a friend's house and they were playing Omaha. I watched them play but I had some doubts about the rules they were using. I did some research and I think they are wrong. I wanted to know who the winners are in each hand listed below. Thanks for your help.

Player 2 J ♤ J ♡7◇8♡

Game 2
Table 5◇ 7♡ 8◇ J♡ 9♧

Player 1 6♤ 7◇ 2◇ K ♤
Player 2 A♡ A♧ 7♤ 4♡

Game 3

Player 1 J♧ 7♡ 2♧ 5♡
Player 2 K♡ K♧ J♤ A♡

Game 4 K♡K◇T♧J♡Q◇

Player 1 J◇ 6♧ 8♡ 7◇
Player 2 J♤ 5◇ 6♤ 7♡

RodBarreto: First of all, welcome to the forum, Bruno.

To begin with, in Omaha you must use two cards from your hand.

Game 1
Table
A:diamond: J:diamond: 5:diamond: Q:diamond: 7:heart:

Player 1
K:diamond: 4:diamond: 9:heart: 8:spade:
Player 2
J:spade: J:heart: 7:diamond: 8:heart:

Player 1 has a flush using K:diamond:4:diamond:, while player 2 has trips of J.

Game 2
Table 5:diamond: 7:heart: 8:diamond: J:heart: 9:club:

Player 1 6:spade: 7:diamond: 2:diamond: K:spade:
Player 2 A:heart: A:club: 7:spade: 4:heart:

Player 1 has a straight using 6:spade:7:diamond:, while player 2 only has a pair of Aces.

Game 3
Table J:heart: J:diamond: 9:club: 9:spade: 8:heart:

Player 1 J:club: 7:heart: 2:club: 5:heart:
Player 2 K:heart: K:club: J:spade: A:heart:

Both players have trips of J, however the hand formed by player 1 is JJJ97 (using J7 from his hand), while player 2 has JJJA9 (using AJ from his hand). Therefore, in this case player 2 is the winner because he has a higher kicker.

Game 4
K:heart: K:diamond: T:club: J:heart: Q:diamond:

Player 1 J:diamond: 6:club: 8:heart: 7:diamond:
Player 2 J:spade: 5:diamond: 6:spade: 7:heart:

Repeating the logic of the previous hand, player 1 uses J8 forming his hand KKJJ8, while player 2 uses J7 forming his hand KKJJ7. Therefore, player 1 takes the hand with the kicker 8.

If you have any other questions, just ask!

VIVÃO: What was the winning hand? acs67

your hand
AAT5 villain 8573

board 79682

best possible hand yours… AA (a pair) + 789 = AA879
best possible hand villain … 87 (two pair) + 9 = 88779

The rule requires that your two cards in your hand be considered. If you want to use your T, you have to choose one more. If you use the 5, you will have to take one of the 7968 cards, this way you will not make a sequence.

acs67: Thanks< very enlightening, thank you very much, I didn't know the Omaha rule very well, thanks, may the runes continue to get better and better for you. Happy holidays and a blessed new year to you and your family. acs67: Villain went all-in preflop, I open limit and he comes back which would leave me with 15% of the stack, I tribet all-in and he calls a huge stack. Villain takes it, I had around 60k Villain 390k blind 1400 2800 VIVÃO: Thanks< very enlightening, thank you very much, I didn't know the Omaha rule very well, thanks, may the runes continue to get better and better for you. Even though I started watching tournaments a little over a year ago and I started playing real money recently, I don't feel comfortable playing it. LIVE: It's the typical NUTS game, going to the showdown only with really strong hands in cash and tournaments, some games like two pair sometimes have some value, it's good to sharpen your reading. This guy has a pair of aces and an out of his own. The rule is to always use any combination of two cards from your hand. Always.
