Vadiu: The conversation below illustrates one of the most common mistakes we make when we're learning to play poker: blaming a bad hand on bad luck. I hope it helps a lot of people:
Beginner says (14:07):
*Yes
*knows
*the game was for me
Andre-Vadiu says (14:07):
*there is no such thing
Beginner says (14:07):
*I went out with 66 in the buttom position
*ok
Andre-Vadiu says (14:08):
*everyone folds?
Beginner says (14:08):
*There were only 3 players
Andre-Vadiu says (14:08):
*ok
Beginner says (14:08):
*ta
Andre-Vadiu says (14:08):
*what is your stack?
Beginner says (14:08):
*then everyone paid
*and came flop
*I don't remember, because I don't know how to see the history of hands in the pokerstars
*era sit and go
*beauty
Andre-Vadiu says (14:08):
*what are the blinds?
Beginner says (14:08):
*no flop
*I thought it was 25/50
Beginner says (14:09):
*on the flop came 3 6 2
Andre-Vadiu says (14:09):
*were the villains paymasters?
Beginner says (14:09):
*Yes
Andre-Vadiu says (14:09):
*Were they passive? aggressive?
Beginner says (14:09):
*aggressive
*only they had nothing
Andre-Vadiu says (14:09):
*How much did you bet on the button?
Beginner says (14:09):
*well, I had the bite already
*I bet 100
*they paid
Andre-Vadiu says (14:09):
*you gave a miniraise then
Beginner says (14:09):
* came the turn
*this
*o turn
*came an 8
*beauty
*that
*a guy went all in
Andre-Vadiu says (14:10):
*Was there a flushdraw on the table?
Beginner says (14:10):
*he had 8 and 4 in his hand
*no
Andre-Vadiu says (14:10):
*ok
Beginner says (14:10):
*84o
*blz
*he went all in
*the guy next to him, who was under the gun
*whatever
*big blind
*gave call
*with all in tbm
*as I already had a bite
*and he was the chip leader
*called
*dei call
Andre-Vadiu says (14:10):
*all in for how much?
Beginner says (14:10):
*1400
Andre-Vadiu says (14:10):
*Was it the bubble?
Beginner says (14:11):
*I had 1600 chips
*what do you mean bubble?
Andre-Vadiu says (14:11):
*Were there only 3 players left?
*or 4?
Beginner says (14:11):
*uhum
*means
*there were 4 on the table
*one folded pre-flop
Andre-Vadiu says (14:11):
*is the bubble
*Got it
Beginner says (14:11):
*ah yes
*beauty
*that
*came a Q on the river
*and the big blind had QQ in his hand man
*in the river
*our
Andre-Vadiu says (14:11):
*How much did you bet on the flop and preflop?
Beginner says (14:11):
*I was silent
*no flop
*I checked
*everyone checked
Andre-Vadiu says (14:12):
*ok
Beginner says (14:12):
*I think that with 66
*I didn't have the courage to bet
*even though they are aggressive
*and I'm the chip leader
Andre-Vadiu says (14:12):
*lacked courage, despite reading then
Beginner says (14:12):
*Yes
*but I lost on the river man
Andre-Vadiu says (14:12):
*and also a relatively low preflop bet
Beginner says (14:12):
*I tilted a lot
*kkkkkkk
Andre-Vadiu says (14:12):
*You lost because you played badly...
Andre-Vadiu says (14:13):
*preflop, I'd bet 250 and not 100
Beginner says (14:13):
*but he was lucky too
Andre-Vadiu says (14:13):
*on the flop I'd go all in
Beginner says (14:13):
*I bet 100 on the flop
*I thought about going all in
*but they were paying for everything
*and I wondered if anyone had another 6 in hand
Andre-Vadiu says (14:13):
*and isn't that what you wanted?
Beginner says (14:13):
*even so
*é
*More like you said
*lacked courage
Andre-Vadiu says (14:13):
*Got it
Beginner says (14:13):
*despite
Andre-Vadiu says (14:13):
*your problem at the moment is something called scared money
Beginner says (14:13):
*that I could have stolen more tokens
*I played well
Andre-Vadiu says (14:14):
*try to play lower limits
*you'll see how much better you'll play
Beginner says (14:14):
*was at the limit, and the blinds had already increased a lot
*started with 10 players
Andre-Vadiu says (14:14):
*how much was the buy in?
Beginner says (14:14):
*at least I came second
*if I'm not mistaken
*era 300+9
Andre-Vadiu says (14:14):
*playmoney?
Beginner says (14:14):
*no no
*ficticio
*I'm playing again now ^^
Andre-Vadiu says (14:14):
*ah ta
Andre-Vadiu says (14:15):
*fictitious is play money
*po nego, in that 300+9 I'd already drop an all in preflop in their faces
Beginner says (14:15):
*ah yes
Andre-Vadiu says (14:15):
*you'd hit QQ paying and it wouldn't be such a painful bad beat
Beginner says (14:15):
*Yes
Andre-Vadiu says (14:15):
*After all, you've already started losing
Beginner says (14:16):
*I think I lacked breasts and fear of losing ugly
*Yes
*more expensive
*the funny
*is that the guy
*in the game situation
*with QQ in hand
*no raise
*right on the pre-flop
*he had no idea what he was doing, and counted on luck
Andre-Vadiu says (14:17):
*It's at these limits that you find a lot of donkeys who don't have the slightest idea of what they're doing... they don't know how to bet preflop or on the flop and they don't know how to drop anything on the river mano.... you can exploit them easily and they don't even realize it.
*between you and me you can ride all over them and they'll think they're the good guys and if they lose, they'll blame it on bad luck.
Andre-Vadiu says (14:18):
*just be careful not to get like that bro, study hard
Beginner says (14:18):
*uhum
Andre-Vadiu says (14:18):
*remember that 99% of the times we suffer a badbeat it's because of our mistake
Beginner says (14:18):
*I'm playing again now
*after about 8 months at a standstill
*uhum
Andre-Vadiu says (14:18):
*can cre
*Well, I'm going back to work here... post your hand on pokerdicas to see what the guys say
Beginner says (14:19):
*but let's see, I think I played well on my return
*beauty
*Sorry to bother you
*yes yes
*I'm going back :B
*see how the crowd is and tasl
Andre-Vadiu says (14:19):
*I'd love to post this conversation there so that newcomers can learn from us...
*If you allow me, of course.
Beginner says (14:19):
*uhum
*Yes, of course
Andre-Vadiu says (14:19):
*blza valew
*good studies.
Beginner says (14:19):
*Thanks!
Ruus7y: Well, I don't want to hide, the conversation was with me :B
and yes, after reading a few articles, I recognize that it was a mistake.
although at the time I thought I'd played well compared to my expectations.
Anyway, it's a lesson for newbies. ^^
afsalagoas: Man, that's ironic.
But playmoney is fire. I played today to show a friend of mine what online poker is like, he's playing on his cell phone.
A little table out of nowhere that I walked into, the guys all all-in, with nothing, all AIR.
After I saw the threads about people selling these tokens, I'm thinking of making a profit there hehehe!
I hope that newcomers will think about this too and look for help on the forum.
As hard as it is, it's a learning experience.
RicardoSzZ: *po nego, in that 300+9 I'd already drop an all in preflop in their faces
The quote above was almost like an "aaaa vaiáá!!!"
It's great to talk about it and at the beginning it's just like that, too afraid to risk chips, the ideal is to stay in play money for a while until you manage to control that fear and such....... and move on to real money when you're more comfortable with the game. Read a lot about positions, hands, knowing how to fold and everything else.
Yesterday in an SNG at Party Poker, he flopped River with Flush having ace in hand....... :S......was sure the guy made Fullhouse.......folded, he showed a nice Fullhouse :D......was bubble, so......not much risk when in doubt. Then, in another hand, this same guy, came with everything and I went too, taking him......the Fullhouse was with me now......
The rule is clear :D.....Patience, discipline and aggression is everything
Thanks for sharing the dialog
Onion: I've already smashed a fictitious 300+9 hahahaha
kioskao: there's no need to be afraid of playmoney, you can get more all the time
the hand played he was going to lose anyway, even if he went all in on the flop, QQ was going to pay.

What an analysis, huh?
Why shouldn't you be afraid, playmoney?
Flush: If you've never slowplayed the flop and then been hit in the face when the river came, cast the first stone 😀
That's what starting out is all about: fear, uncertainty, mistakes. But it's also about perseverance, humility and a willingness to learn. The rest, time brings.
Vadiu: I think the 'fear' in question isn't monetary but the possibility of not winning the game.

because if you lose all your fictitious tokens, you can get more
and with this board, in playmoney, the villain was going to go all in with a happy QQ
i've played playmoney for a long time, it's luck that counts.
playing at a 100/200 table, you raise to 600, the nut on your left already shoves and at least 2 more pay.
Tex Wilde: and with that board, in playmoney, the villain was going to go all in with a happy QQ
You can't just consider QQ in the villain's hand, but a range. You also can't assume that he was going to lose because you didn't know there was going to be a Q on the river.

No luck, just skill. In play money it's much easier to make a profit than in real money, no doubt about it. The difference is that in play money the variance is MUCH greater, which made you confuse it with luck.

wow i wish the real money tables were lucky too 😀
playmoneyu just wait for a good hand and ship
Ruus7y: yes, although at the time, I didn't have TIME to think like that, and I didn't have anything to think about either.
since it was everyone's check pre-flop, I thought no one would have anything, but when the 6 came on the flop, I got excited and went all in. I think I was right so far?
